I'm a cat lady and yoga instructor (E-RYT200, RYT500), raised in New York City, where I grew up dreaming of being on Broadway. After discovering I'm not remotely competitive, I left music school and went into a journey of rediscovering who I actually was after childhood dreams failed - some people call that "growing up." On the way, I came face-to-face with yoga and never looked back. The philosophy and the orderly path to freedom struck true and finally helped string together all the parts of me I thought were strange and disconnected.
I completed my first yoga teacher training under the mentorship of Lauren Hanna at Sonic Yoga in 2011 and continued to study with Shiva Rea's Samudra School, diving deep into the organic teachings of tantra and Ayurveda. I went on to complete my advanced certification under the expert tutelage of Dana Flynn and the Laughing Lotus teaching team, earning my RYT-500 in 2014.
I take yoga seriously but I try my hardest not to take myself too seriously. The asana is a pathway to strengthening, extending, balancing, and healing the body, mind, and spirit. My classes are creative, interesting, and light-hearted explorations of the deep layers of the human experience.
My mom introduced me to yoga back in San Francisco. I struggled to understand the practice and frankly didn't enjoy it but continued taking classes anyway. When I moved to New York, I found my first home studio at Yoga to the People.
After witnessing and experiencing firsthand the transformative power of accessible yoga to underserved and marginalized communities, I decided to complete YTTP's 200hr training. I juggled practicing and teaching before and after a full-time job until an opportunity to teach yoga in Central America inspired me to leave the corporate world.
Upon returning to New York, I completed a machine and mat Pilates training and began studying at Katonah Yoga Bowery.
Yoga empowers the individual to look within oneself for answers, rather than turning to external means. This, to me, defines freedom, freedom to make choices. I hope to share this philosophy in my classes and am thrilled to have found a community at Goodyoga.
